Thanks Pbee.

As for hearing me, I'm working on it Pbee. I'm hoping to have a little time after next week. Hopefully my "band" will have time to get together. We recorded a couple of songs but we're working with some new equipment and haven't quite worked out all the kinks (in ourselves either) so I'm not happy with the way the recordings came out. I'm pretty good with the arrangements, it's just the recording themselves--we must've had the levels wrong when we made the masters so they're not as clear as they should be. But each time (which unfortunately isn't often) we get closer. So maybe sometime this summer I'll be able to start posting some songs. Thanks for taking an interest. Hope it'll be worth the wait.

Joe

Hey Guys,

Hilch, thanks for the suggestion. I had to read it each way a few times 'cause your way sounds good, too, but I knew there was a reason I wrote it the way I did (sometimes I have to remind myself). Your way conveys me hearing an actual sound and wondering if it's her or not--that's great, nice, just not what I meant. When I hear noises in the kitchen I already know it's not really her, and just my own regrets keeping me up at night.

And I'd thought about saying "noises in my head" rather than "noise in my head" 'cause I liked the way that sounded, too, but it conveyed a slightly different meaning as well. "Noises" refers to all the sounds I'm hearing. "Noise" encompasses all the emotional crap that's in there, too.

I like it your way, too. It's just different than what I meant. Sometimes I go back and forth adding a word or suffix, deleting a word or suffix because that tiny change can change the meaning. Usually (definitely tonight, or I wouldn't have had time to post this week at all) the initial song comes pretty quickly. It's the going back and forth with the little words and suffixes that's the most time consuming. And sometimes even when I think I've got it the way I want it, someone here suggests a simple word change that makes it even better. Or just reminds me of why I chose to do it a different way. Anyway, now that I've used up all my break rambling (I really miss Chris--he usually took care of all the waffling) I've gotta go fail a test--err take a test. Have a good one.

Joe
