I love how the caller is so casual but it means so much to the one being called. That's exactly the impression I got, too - so if that was meant to be the point of the song, job done!

I'll be interested to see what kind of music you put to this......

"I was leaving, going to do my own thang" comes across as 70's soul music - Barry White or Sly Stone.
