I like it. It's poignant, and it reads well. The meter and rhyme are good, and the story flows well. The only thing that trips me up is the "pentagon". I know we're supposed to use shapes, but why did you choose pentagon? Did the character lose a clique of 5 friends? Or is it somehow tied into that building in Washington? Or is it just to make the listener wonder? (it works on that level for me) Just curious. But real good work.
