                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[ssg 47 - I picked <B>Those ducks are geese</B> and <B>Sunday is midweek</B><br>---------------------------<br><br><B>Those ducks are geese</B><br><br>---------------------------<br><br>When I rode my bike along the d i k e s of river Scald the other night<br>Halfway to Mortimer's house I saw a yellow light<br>I quit being scared in the dark the day I read a book about<br>"How to combat fear" - it worked much better than with smoking<br><br>So I tied my iron rubber friend to the post warning for "river bend"<br>Courageously prepared myself for what looked like a tough descent<br>Wading through the high grass and trying to pass the barbed wire<br>Suddenly in front of me an old man by the fire<br><br> Â  Â  Â <B>Hello son, come sit next to me<br> Â  Â  Â This fire's for the two of us<br> Â  Â  Â And please don't be afraid because<br> Â  Â  Â Those ducks are geese</B> <br><br>Those were the only words he spoke and finally when daylight broke<br>We stood up and put out the fire like men do<br>I rode back to the city, stopped at Rita's Inn for coffee<br>And went straight back to work, as if I'd had a good night's sleep<br><br>The doorbell rings, an officer, she asks me if my name is what <br>my name is. I am charged with murder in the first degree.<br>The sirens wail above my head One constable is saying that<br>if it were for money he'd have understood<br><br> Â  Â  Â <B>You know son, you're disgusting me<br> Â  Â  Â If they burn you it's a fire well spent<br> Â  Â  Â I mutter "I am innocent"<br> Â  Â  Â "Yeah, and Sunday is midweek"</B><br><br>The warder has unlocked my door "Now come on boy and lighten up your<br>face. Be happy she didn't let you down."<br>And mother she remembers me I could already read the paper<br>when I was in infant class. We hold the silence in our hands<br><br>(instrumental intermezzo)<br><br>A grey beard covers up my face.
