Your choice of music is interesting I'd love to hear it if you get the time. When I read it I was thinking of the song "The Edmund Fitzgerald" sung in that haunting kind of way.

The music fast paced in Dm Dorian. The vocal melody is pretty slow on the verse kind of like an old folk song holding the notes on "down" and "-side" in each line. The Chorus is faster. The first line of the Bridge is staccato and the second is more held loud notes with the "meee" drowning out to a guitar crossover.
