Your choice of music is interesting I'd love to hear it if you get the time. When I read it I was thinking of the song "The Edmund Fitzgerald" sung in that haunting kind of way.
Well done, you tell a good story
cheers

Paul

Hey I decided to combine the themes of murder and love into a song. I already had all the music written, and I knew I wanted the lyrics to be pretty dark. There is normally no love in a murder song and no murder in a love song and this song has both haha so enjoy. im gonna record it sometime in the next few days. Ill post an mp3 when its ready. Let me know what you think.

The music fast paced in Dm Dorian. The vocal melody is pretty slow on the verse kind of like an old folk song holding the notes on "down" and "-side" in each line. The Chorus is faster. The first line of the Bridge is staccato and the second is more held loud notes with the "meee" drowning out to a guitar crossover.

Verse
Lord take me down to the riverside
We'll offer our secrets up into the sky
Five nails fastened a cracked coffinboard
And the leakin' came faster as he drifted from shore

We were best friends, brothers, from the time we were 2
But a girl caught our fancy as she danced in the dew
Oh for you sweet Kara know we both would have died
So we fought for your hand beneath the crimson sunrise

Chorus
And I breathe better
Knowin' that my secrets safe and sound
Watch it float away like a feather
But baby it's a hard rain comin' down

Verse 2
How can these hands, raise children now
Wash the blood from my fingers but it lingers somehow
A bitter iron bite, intrudes every sweet cake
And a scar mars the sunrise over every new lake

And she fell to her knees when I spoke of our fight
“It was him that I loved” was her only reply
She climbed the church tower just as I arrived
Then she rang the bell twice as she lept to the sky

Chorus
And the scene stuttered
This can't be my life no God not me
We turn our faces now from each other
And I whisper all my secrets to the sea

Bridge
You wanna know if I know well I don't
But I can't seem to shake, this feeling it's takin'
Meeeeee

Outro
I dream now of spirits, flowing clear into dawn
Sayin' don't shed your tears yet, The road's still too long
Well I sold out a friend for a fickle hearts dream
And watched my sanity sail down a one way stream
