Hmmm. A difficult week. My job's been made redundant from April 6th and it's not a good time in the Investment Banking industry.

Anyway, I'm a supporter of Greenpeace and Stop Stansted Expansion, so here's a little anti-urbanisation something from me. It's a bit rough still, but nothing that can't be fixed and clocks in at about two minutes. The lines "all I know is I miss the....." is done with a Cmaj7 and Fmaj7 sequence to get that wistful feel, and I've got some minor 7ths and a dominant in there to get me away from the convenient block chords. There's also a point in the chorus where I slide the Fmaj7 up two frets to give a variation on Em7. MP3 to follow later in the week once we've got the words polished up a bit.

Title: My Little Town

I used to watch movies here
now we got bars.
I used to go fishing here
now you park cars.
You call this progress it's
concrete design that's
killed off the sound of the
birds and the bees.
You tell me I've got to
change with the times,
all I know is
I miss the trees.
My little town
What ya done to my little town

You ripped up the parks and
you flood them with stone.
A million busy people
call it their home.
The shopping malls reach as
far as you see, and
hundreds of storeys high.
The sound of the tills where the
beach used to be
all I know is
I miss the sea.
My little town
What ya done to my little town

There's the motorway and
the new runway,
the two-car driveway and
the old subway.
Sure there must be a
better way
it was so much better the
other way.

You pull down the tower blocks
and build something bigger.
The steadiest job is
driving a digger.
It's out of date
before it's begun,
all I know is
I miss the sun
My little town
What ya done to my little town

My little town
What ya done to my little town
My little town
What ya done to my little town
