I kind of had a Byrds sound going in my brain when I wrote the long lines.  They work, but it would be hard to write the song without it sounding very outdated. I love the Byrds' sound, but I don't think that sound would sell many albums in today's market.  :P  Maybe I'll work on two versions of the song simultaneously, just for kicks.

I'll have to hear it.  To me the repeated lines seem long.

Wrapped in whispering candlelight

somehow seems better to me.  By taking away "Diana's"  you make the chorus a bit more universal.

I'd also change the was to is.  Present tense is much more powerful.
