Im not sure V3 works, cos you've just won the race and she's got the purse. Maybe some thing like:

I thought I just got lucky
But my old lady took the purse Verse 4 Im not keen on, only cos I don't quite understand it

Verse 5 I like.

Not a bad effort really I reckon. The reason it works for me is that you not only describe the situation but you also let us know what your thinking, and that's good.

Yeah it was the old hymn I was refering to.

It fits the melody perfect but Amazing Grace can be
sung to the Gilligan's Island theme so don't worry
about that.

Not bad lyrics but it seems that this fits a bit too
close to the melody of Bringing In The Sheath.

If this was intentional then what yoy have here
is more of a song parody than an original song.

But it was still fun to read.

Only problem I had with this was the following line :

my old lady got her purse

I know it rhymes and all and fits the measure but the actuall wording does not really work for me ..


Apart from that I like it in it's simplicity , I think it would be a real toe tapper ..
