Its totally in line with the type of music I am currently listening to and I feel like I can almost hear it in my head. Keep it up

Normally, I agree with what Paul is saying but there are songs that just, on the surface, make little sense at all to the listener. I think the audience appreciates this type of song sometimes because their mind fills in the gap and they make it their own. THEY know what it means, even if its not really what you (The author) meant. Know what I mean? Hope no one thinks I am being mean. OK. I'll stop

Geoo

I do and in those instances the music tends to carry the day.
I understand the difficulty and value of a cryptic lyrical angle to music, but the power of straight foward submersive lyrics intrigues me and I WANT IT. MUAHAHAHAHA.

Hmmm I can see that were going to have to keep an eye on you

cheers

Paul

Hey, sorry it took so long to reply.

BNA- thanks for the encouragement!!!

Martin 6- Rats, for some reason everyone always likes the parts I enjoy least. Strange that, very strange. Thanks though.
Oh, and anomie is basically a term for when someone grows distant from society due to a break down of social norms and societal constraints. I suppose it mostly applies to the first verse.

Hilch- Hahaha, I don't mind. It was and is a ligitamit question. This is actually the first song I've posted that I've had no music In mind for, since I wrote it after I got carpul tunel, and do mostly to carelessness, still have. In fact, LEFT HAND TYPING!!!

pbee- Hey, I'm going to start out by saying that I disagree There's more to vocals then a message, theres phonics, sounds that sound good in certain orders, and theres even a poetic angle at times. People go to oprah's, which can be difficult to understand lyrically, or in another language all together and, I believe, genuinly enjoy the experience. Also, I think first, Nirvana, a band that not only sluured and contorted words beyond symbolic impressions to grimmey and purposly controlled vocals, but also always avoided giving a cystal clear messege, while still retaining the effectiveness. Plus, I'm sure you have a favorite band or song that you didn't understand what they were saying and you filled in the words yourself. It kinda makes you wonder if they did that on purpose.
Crap this is tiring.
Alright, regardless of everything I just said, you're right. I just got the new rehab cd for my b-day, and it's made me consider a more direct aproach to lyrics, and considering the circumstance even a more rapping approach to the sitution. I understand the difficulty and value of a cryptic lyrical angle to music, but the power of straight foward submersive lyrics intrigues me and I WANT IT. MUAHAHAHAHA.
Seriously, I've been considering it.
As for the structure, you are COMPLETLY RIGHT, and if I could strum a guitar I probably would have found the motivation to add, divide, take away, and rearrange the song by now. I was also too busy being cone-fed alcholal for my 21st. But excuses suck, so I do apologize.

Dang. I think that's it, peace.

Hi Josh,

I've got to say that I really enjoy your writing, and this is no exception, it is very good. Having said that I think I also have to say that to me writing is about communication, and whereas in the written form your audience can re-read your submission to get understanding, in a song they're trying to comprehend real-time. If they are thinking too much about line 1 then they're not listening to line 2 and so on and there is a danger of loosing them. This is why in a typical song you'll find hooks inserted into the structure, these re-establish the connection and are used to reiterate the underling message of the song. Have a read of Nick Torres articles on song writing. What I think would improve this song is a little structure and maybe a hook in there. There are some people out there who might think that giving a song more general/commercial appeal is a sell out of artistic expression, but I believe that songs communicate on many levels and sometimes using that device can open the way to communicate the more important message.
Please don't think that I'm coming down on you cos I really do appreciate your talent, and I'm starting to ramble now so Ill just be quiet and go away.

Cheers
Paul
