A cursory look at Steely Dan's "bio" on allmusic.com mentions that Becker and Fagen played in a band called "the Bad Rock Group", which had Chevy Chase on drums. But there's no mention of Dan Akroyd. Likewise, if you lookup Dan Akroyd, there's no mention of Steely Dan. I could be totally off....just that I never heard that before.
Then again, Dan Akroyd was one of the original "Not Ready For Prime Time Players", and so was Chevy Chase. And your brother works at a Chevy dealer. And both the "Blues Bros", and "Thelma & Louise" feature chases... so maybe there's some sort of esoteric connection there. I dunno.

Oh yeah, the song. I love the song. Great song. No matter who inspired it.

Good stuff from you again. My only (slight) issue is that the mentions of the two films seem to come and go very suddenly - like they don't seem to belong in the song.

Maybe that verse could be slightly reworked as a chorus-type thing?

It's just a thought.

Reminds me a little of Springsteen's "Johnny 99"....but only a little, I don't mean like a rip-off, more like a variation on a theme.....although this isn't as instant as last week's santa song (should've saved that for Xmas week, really!!!) I've a feeling it may be a real grower....look forward to hearing it, anyway.......good work!
