I don't know about the rest of the song because I can't get past that chorus. Fantastic. My only suggestion would be to make the first two lines more stage related. Perhaps "men" could become "leading man" or you mention a scene or lines, or memorize, monologue or ingénue...

I think if I was making this my own, I'd switch out what you have now as the chorus and make it a verse and make the above your chorus.
