Hi :D

Okay.
Some pretty good images from these 'titles' 8)

Some of you were pretty close, (if not right on).

Stingy Brim - Is indeed a 'small' or 'short' brim on (usually) a Porkpie hat.
The less of a brim - the stingier :)
I thought it was a cool title.... would have to be bluesy or jazzy for me.

New Blonde - Couldn't quite remember where I got this one from.
It was written down with some of the others, so....
I think it has something to do with my coveting a new 63 Tele in white blonde nitro lacquer from Fender's custom shop...
or,
Maybe it had to do with my new girlfriend at that time - A real Blonde.
I'm sure Dylan's Blonde on Blonde had something to do with it.

Which brings us to -

Red on Red - I'm a huge Dylan fan. Not the most knowledgeable, as there is a great amount of his catalogue that I'm not
familliar with. Still, what I have heard, I have come to love.
I have often wondered what he meant by Blonde on Blonde...?
I came to the conclusion that it had to do with 'real' blonde's. (His wife had black hair :? ) (Remember that part in the movie MASH????)
And since I have an affinity for real red heads, and my former wife is one, and she is the inspiration for 98% of my songs....
Red on Red!

Yes, I do love a beautuiful head of hair

Dominant Contrast - This is a term used in photography/cinematography.
Pictures are read like sentences. Usually from left to right.
A dominant contrast can be placed in the frame to guide our eyes, balance a shot, or to draw our attention to a specific.
Loved your Idea David 8)

The Dynamizer - Don't remember why it was that I read about this.
It is something along the lines of what Chris said.
This 'Quack' developed this machine that would cure any sickness.
Of course it didn't....
The twist is, he did it more to give sick people hope.
A bit misguided, benevolent none the less.
I liked the name and the story behind it.

Ken

I've no idea why I like that one, but I did. Maybe it sounded like something Tom Waits would write, and I LOVE Tom Waits... Stingy Brim sounded like a seedy character straight out of one of Tom's songs, and I'd love to met him... :D

New Blonde

Yep, I'd like to meet her too (or was it him?).

Red on Red

Hey, you're batting strongly here. That's a goodie too... :) Brings back memories of Dylan's "Blonde on Blonde" for me, being of that vintage (and still having my original vinyl LPs). But Red on Red evokes something very different - possibly rage, danger, and so on, but the one I liked was red lipstick and/or a red dress on a redheaded woman....

Dominant Contrast

Well, that's almost a relief. The brain ground to a halt there.

The Dynamizer

Bit too Arnie for me. Or maybe one of those Corporate Motivator types?? "Think Positive - subscribe to my Proven Course and get RICH" (or make me rich anyway...). But it might also make a good Springsteen style tale of inner city life and times. Not quite my area of experience so I wouldn't quite know what to do with it. But I'd enjoy hearing where somebody else took it.

Cheers,

Chris

Ah, but that's the problem with looking at all this so early in the week. Who knows what other titles might grab one's fancy? I'd best be writing up a few titles of my own..

Okay, let's try this for real...

Reactions and impressions...

Stingy Brim

Don't know why, but this makes me want to write something along the lines of the very early John Entwhistle songs, like Boris the Spider. "...It's Stingy Brim / keep your daughters away from him..."

New Blonde

Could be funny or very introspective. I keep thinking about some of the older women I know (or knew) who would change their lives and outward personalities with the change of their hair color or style. And then there's the whole wig thing and all the reasons one could go there...

Red on Red

I just like the title. Have absolutely no idea what I'd do with it and that's probably what I like best...

Dominant Contrast

Again, I'm stuck on colors. One of the classrooms where I teach is also an art room and there are all these color charts on the walls and I'm thinking about the illustrations of "warm color dominance" and "cool color dominance" and how that might translate musically. This might turn out to be more of a "musical" than "lyrical" pursuit for me. Even something simply like, for example, having the verses in Em while the chorus is in E might be interesting. Could even go literally and have to verses in C with the chorus in G (the dominant), kind along the lines of the Moody Blues' For My Lady.

The Dynamizer
A cool hip song for the newest, coolest, hippest superhero... Yes, I do need some rest...

Peace
