I don't see how the monitors in the first paragraph tie into the rest of the song.

Maybe I'm trying to read too much into a song with simple lyrics. Don't blame yourself.

I tried a deeper concept that isn't very clear or simple.

The singer doesn't want to be "just like everyone else"....the idea his is fighting against is "everyone needs love.....

.........in this case doesn't want "love" b/c he sees "love" as emotional and tries to control his life by subduing his emotions

So I tried to equate the singer more in "robotic" terms "monitoring" his vital signs; acknowledging his pulse is racing because of attraction to a woman....failing to be able to talk to her because he is overcome with emotions.

The bridge is then a defeated admission and "pragmatic" call out for love....

The singer is saying, "Hey, ok, I admit, I am human just like all humans- I need love"

lucid -aware I am alive,

stupid (we all do stupid things; especially when emotions overtake thoughts),

we're all "lost" searching for meaning in life,

humanity is both lovely (beautiful) and ugly at the same time......

and we are all "here" (a pragmatic approach to simplifying the search for love process.....ie If you can't be with the one you love, love the one your with).


...so I am open to suggestions in the lyrics to make the ideas come across clearer :wink:
