Those are good aspects to explore, but I was just sticking with the loyal sidekick that really likes his/her job.
It's just that each verse really says the same thing.
Yes, there is no story line, build, or twist....it's basically examples of loyalty or co-dependency.
I liked the touch of delay on the vocals rather than nailing the beats like a robot.

That's good to hear since I tried a new plug-in on the vocal.
The cymbals were distracting.
I can play around with that.....Thanks for the FYI

Thanks for the listen and post :D

James

Hi Renee,
there are lots of unrelated metaphors here and I don't think it works.

Yes, it goes against the idea Pat Pattison presents that if you use metaphors, stick to one, if you want multiple images use similes.

I was trying to keep the dependent relationship within each metaphor the same. I know "King of Pain" has a lot of metaphors

http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/police/kingofpain.html

....but after rereading the lyrics just now, I do see Sting has "themes" in each verse
1 inanimate objects up high
2 animals in nature dead or dying
3 men
4 a mix of ideas from 1, 2, 3

....and it rhymes....no wonder it's such a great song

...also David's example from last week of the song "One More Minute" (Weird Al Yankovich) http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/weirdalyankovic/onemoreminute.html

....it has a lot of random images, but they are all ideas of unpleasant acts.
Maybe if you stuck with weapons
Good suggestion. That would seem to be something that could help, or at least get themes in the verses...I see all my metaphors are inanimate objects but one, but I should rethink the themes in relation to "super heroes" to support the chorus

I got a bit stuck trying to get ideas to rhyme and defaulted to rhymes leading the ideas....similar to twisting a line for rhymes sake....not a good thing to do

I had a feeling about 1/3 of the way into this assignment that it wasn't going to end great, but I pushed ahead with the "less than great" idea, so I least I gained some learning experience from the analysis of why it didn't work....

....I'll put the muse to work on it and see if the day/song can be rescued :P

so.....Thanks for the listen and post

James
