Which is almost a direct line from one his songs and while I usually wouldn't have noticed but I was listening to "Laura Laurent," when I was reading this and that is the song with that line in it.Though people do come up with similar lines and I am in no one accusing you of biting his lyrics because as you have shown you don't need to do that to make your material good, as you're my favorite lyricist on this board. So once again great job.

Good stuff. :D And great to hear you sing and play at last. You definitely have a style that suits the way you write your songs.

As usual, some great lines and images. It also seemed more shaped than your songs sometimes are, but nothing seemed to have been lost by that. At least to me, it seemed as if something was gained. Perhaps it was the extra discipline imposed by the emphasis on time this week.

I definitely agreed with the sentiments about fearing the unknown, but also reflected that the advice that follows is quite often seen in reverse, and also works the other way round.

"don't think about dying,
Or you'll have trouble living"

I guess it's a bit like the English proverbs "Look before you leap" and "He who hesitates is lost". Both good advice in some situations, but actually also the opposite of each other. :D

I'm thinking about the sayings that go "Live each day as if it were your last" - in other words "do be very aware that you will die. Make the most of your life while you've got it.". I'd often read that advice in the past, but it never really sank in properly until I got old. Having now come uncomfortably close to death three times, I really do try and live my life in the most positive and generous hearted way that I can, on a day by day basis. And it certainly seems to make it richer than if I either get too gloomy, or simply let myself bob along on the general tide of public apathy and mediocrity.

Whoops, waffling again. The song was terrific, and I especially liked the ending that presenting the option that calm and emptiness could be just as chilling to face as being threatened more directly.

Cheers, Chris
