Well I think this song will be ultimately forgettable but the most interesting thing that happened to me when writing it is that I wrote the verse and chorus separately and eventually found that the reason I was having trouble playing it was that the two go at radically different tempos. D'oh! In the end I had to dust off the old metronome (drastic measures!) and play through it, either playing the choruses at half speed or the verses at double speed. Well. The latter proved more successful, but I've learned a useful lesson about writing the different parts separately. I have a secret feeling that this Frankensteinian amalgamation of two songs desperately wants to tear itself in two and make a bid for freedom. I'll keep it around for the next time I have half a song lying around.

Didn't take any, but thanks for being polite.

I like this. It's got an Aimee Mann sort of feel to it (and that's a good thing!). I especially like the second verse ("...You're never late...") and the way it all flows together.

The only thing I'd suggest is to come up with somthing other than "bitter pill" in the chorus. Compared to the rest of the song, it seems very trite. I'm trying to come up with an idea on the spur of the moment, but I suspect this is one that needs a little thought.

Looking forward to reading more of your material.

And by the way, you should try to remember to not say "dead." We prefer to think of ourselves as "metaphysically challenged."

Peace

This song started off with the word "promises" and later grew to incorporate the brief scribblings I had made for the Christmassy SSG assignment. The result is two weeks' worth of songs rolled into one. It's about 85% finished, meaning that it's complete but I need to let it mature for a little while to find out if there are any bits I want to change. Oh, by the way, it's not a blues song... I just felt like making the title a little misleading!

The song sounds ok, but nothing special. I don't reckon it'll make it onto my Greatest Hits compilation ;) (maybe Vol. 3....)
