hey, thank you for your comments and please excuse my late reply
yes, vic, it is indeed a child waiting for her brother to take her home (my brother had once promised to fetch me from kindergarden but forgot... i can't remember the incident myself, only from the countless re-tellings  ). of course, me being away from home is a very fitting interpretation, although i didn't think of that in particular. for me it was just general loneliness and failure/incompetence. so you're reading this pretty much the way i do  glad you enjoy it!
pearl, i did think of that criticism myself when i wrote down "decline".. (and i know that norah song :D ) but then again i really liked the word there and argued that children sometimes use such words, maybe a bit out of context or with the wrong collocation, after having heard adults use them.. and decline is maybe not the word that is usually related to a sunset. well, i'm rambling. sorry. your criticism is justified and it is meant to be rather a child's point of view. still taking the poetic licence of keeping it the way i have it

cheers,
straycat.

Simple, and effective. This is what I meant about honing your writing style; you've managed to lose a lot of the imagery you used to cram into your songs almost to saturation point, but you've retained enough to make the song interesting. In this case, the child (unless it's a deep metaphor I missed?) waiting for her brother to take her home is caught in between the magical place that an empty playground is, and the yearning for home and familiarity. I wondered if it was an allusion to you being at University away from home? Then again, knowing me, I've probably mis-read it totally....doesn't stop me from enjoying it, though!

:D :D :D

Vic
