                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[hey. i was confident. confused. lost. found. inspired. singing. horrified. impatient. re-reading. dissatisfied.  :roll:  here goes.<br><br><U>water in my lungs</U><br><br>the trees sing when you're quiet<br>the birds people the sky<br>i am at ease<br>on the kerbside of April<br><br>until the most beautiful song<br>tricks my mind<br>my mind staggering backwards on crutches<br>and the notes fall like a cold, steady rain<br><br>i am dripping<br>amongst picnicking<br>saturday people<br>i am soaked<br>in a field <br>of tombstones<br>with my face down<br>and my hands out<br>for driftwood<br><br>well, i've been to this dead end before<br>on the keys of a typewriter<br>that you have left at my door<br>on the waves of a memory,<br>a vein poorly reconnected<br><br>so, i know the chalk on the wall<br>i know my way back<br>and am conscious on the pavement<br>in no time at all<br><br>but i <br>have <br>water in my lungs<br><br><br>and one of these days<br>the rain will puncture my sleep<br>and one of these days<br>i will wake with<br>a ghost drug across a country at my feet<br>and water in my lungs<br>i will cough up blood on<br>another torn-out page<br><br>and â€œGod, it's weirdâ€....<br><br>pfff.... dislike it a little now... too clumsy. well, anyhow: the trigger is "Abandoned" by Scott Matthew (wherein he sings "God it's weird") and somehow a little Bright Eyes sneaked in as well ("I drug your ghost across the country" and "a cold steady rain"...).<br>it probably needs a good cutting down and tightening. i don't have the patience right now :? <br><br>cheers,<br>straycat.]]></content:encoded>
