It is a bit rambling, yes - it could be tightened up in a few places. But as usual, all the imagery we've come to expect is there - all I have to do now is decipher the meaning!<br><br>This has been the only time I can ever remember when there's only been one new song in the whole week.....good job you posted something, Anne!<br><br>Everyone else must be on holiday - apart from me, and I think my brain cell's gone away for a week or two...though I'm still here.....sort of......in spirit anyway.....<br><br> :D  :D  :D <br><br>Vic]]></content:encoded>

I think there might be a bit of week 29 in there, too :wink:  Here goes:<br><br><U>seaward wind</U> <br><br>the traffic lights are stuck on amber<br>a neighbour's asleep on the steering wheel<br>and the window pane is but an empty frame<br>for the veteran sailor with the sunken cheeks and sore throat<br>he wanders through the terraced house in the manner of a ghost<br>too deadbeat to pull a face at the comrades of old<br>.<br>his hands shake as he measures the tea leaves<br>and places another cup on the table<br>the broken one has been there since april<br>â€œa reminderâ€ he said when sarah asked<br>now he passes by his grandson<br>numb in front of the television set<br>a food war, an old scar, a cartoon - they just race past<br>his head heavy with cardboard boxes<br>he is sick of moving<br><br>while the old ghost<br>drags his cold limbs<br>up the staircase<br>.<br>on the second floor, with clouds' shadows <br>cast on her face, the baby's chuckling in its sleep<br>but he does not hear, he is up in the attic now<br>where dust is a map of the places he's been to<br>in his years as a pirate, the golden days that were<br>as imperfect, but he never stood as still to study<br>the smears in the paintings or the run in the days' seams<br>he is staring at the notes from a piano bench<br><br>amber is weaving through the skyline<br>in a living room a sleeper comes back to life<br>to the faltering notes that echo like lost birds through the house<br>he opens the windows to let them out<br>where a south wind points â€˜em seaward<br> <br>It's rambling on a bit and clumsy in some places... also, I don't think the piano is recognizable as the "thing"... well... anyhow, I hope you find something in it you like :D <br><br>Any comments always appreciated.<br>Cheers,<br>straycat.]]></content:encoded>
