I think I see what you are trying to there, "tabloid = scum" but scum doesn't work as a verb.
Smoking crack tabloid blood-prints stain the page You have a good point on this one. I was trying artistic license and and try to paint a word image...but if it distracts more than enhances then it didn't work :? ..."stain" is a good suggested alternative. :wink:
