another week to decipher it .. didn't think this was that messy

aw, thanks a lot, Peter, for that kind compliment! :D
Fortune reading pancakes  Brilliant!
 have you never noticed how pancakes tend to take all kinds of funny shapes in the pan? :P

thanks for pointing out the incongruencies in the imagery! the impression of the singee as optimist turning into pessimist is pretty close to what i had in mind- someone whose hopes have been disappointed (at some point in time before the song) and who has been gloomy (and unimaginative) ever since ... and the singer is trying to cheer up his/her friend now... but has to give up eventually or else will risk losing his/her own imagination and all those beautiful illusions .. (the "sunrise of surprise" attitude that g. k. chesterton was so fond of... if you have never heard his name before, don't worry, neither had i before this term, but he is well worth a read!!)
.. as for the brush strokes growing cold.. it's not really the brush strokes i meant to grow cold but the hopes! so the "in brush strokes" was just to say that the singee is delivering a rough, makeshift, selective picture (no no, not another image her.. let's replace picture by description) of his/her situation... makes sense? how could i tweak this to make the sense i was hoping it would?

thanks for all your comments and please excuse my late reply!
cheers,
straycat.

Glad to hear it - so where's the MP3? Grrr, I can't stand slackers!

Only joking, Anne - as always, enjoyed the read, the usual Straycat imagery's all in place. Now if you can give me another week to decipher it......and another few days to work out how someone so young can create word paintings so vivid....you have really got to spend some time (in your already crowded curriculum) practising guitar, so's we can hear some of these songs!!!

:D :D :D

Vic
