Good go at the assignment. :D I agree with Peter that I prefer your style, but I agree it was a good way to shake things up a bit. I also agree that the repetition of the one line was good as an anchoring point for the lyrics.

I had two interesting stories come out of this assignment, but I hadn't posted yet b/c it's all unfinished business (Finished moving house...start back to work tomorrow). :evil:

but first things first, the puzzle that came out of this:

Freeze well.

well, suddenly the young people came up
and I happened to be one of them

An enthusiast for the Great Western Railway,
the chief rubbish collector put the world on hold:
men wearing giant playing cards, tiara count 43,
there must be a recession on

and there are wounds on the hands to be washed
there are wounds on the hands to be washed

The impossible can become inevitable
without even passing through improbable
there'll be wounds on the hands to be washed

A balloonist might be grateful for a lot of hot air
in a near-miss with Clifton suspension bridge
still there're wounds on the hands to be washed

but the bottom line is that it
doesn't matter nearly as much
as we think it does



and, afterwards, chocolate icing is a must. - ah, maybe this also as a last radio snippet...

hope it doesn't come across as too random... :oops: the thought was having a couple of people voice their warnings or alarming observations... and then let the alarm drown in the noise of everything else that is happening, everyday horrors, everyday life... even that one lucky escape (balloonist) doesn't stand out in the mud of media coverage... so things that should matter a lot don't matter that much in the end.. and then ridiculous radio mess as final proof :-P so.. on the one hand, sad cold life - we all freeze well (instead of get well).. on the other hand, maybe we ought to freeze time for a bit to look at some events in more detail, stop and think/feel (freeze well to be able to have a close look)... anyhow.. if you haev any suggestions you're very welcome to give them for i feel like i've been carried away just a tiny bit :lol:

now the clippings' contexts:

1) There are wounds on the hands to be washed (Hard Times, an article analyzing the film Hunger, describes a scene in it about washing hands and its symbolism)
2)…put on hold. Here, in the beautiful chamber, the world is full of gold and men wearing giant playing cards … the tiara count is 43, which is so high that you just know there must be a recession on (The Times, Ann Treneman on the Queen openeing parliament)
3) Freeze well (Hard Times last line in a recipe for cupcakes i think it was)
4) Away from music he had a lifelong passion for steam railways and was an enthusiast for the Great Western Railway. (The Times, David Squibb's obituary)

14) I couldn't articulate what I was feeling because it was something I could never imagine (The Times Jodie Prenger's description, in an interview, of what it felt like to be successful or win something or be cast for a role or soemthing)

:roll: now i'm gonna keep my mouth shut for a while :lol: hope it was interesting though, at elast a bit... i for one really liked that task (had wanted to do something like this ever since i read herta müller's Die blassen Herren mit den Mokkatassen - you'll get an idea of what she did if you look at this: )!
