Several million, Nick? That's a bit harsh....I googled (well actually, I yahoo'd) "Steal your heart away"and got hits from Fleetwood Mac, Joe Bonamassa, Bonnie Raitt, Phil Collins, Whitesnake, The Moody Blues, Seneca Hawk, Paul Brady (no, not PBee!) and quite a few I've never heard of....

Now I've got to find something to go with "deliver de liver....." without giving you a chance to vent your spleen.....

Anyway....I think you get several thousand points for getting your entry in early. However I think you get minus several million points for stealing a heart. Remember, no trite, no cliche. For all you other writers that means no stealing moments, no breaking hearts, no stealing hearts, etc. This one might be harder than it first appeared.

Stealing

Stealing away in the dead of night, the thief who's stolen your heart,
Breaking away from the rule-book, we've ripped and broken it apart,
Hating the fact I have to leave, but hoping it's just the start.

Stealing your heart's a Herculean task, but I've stolen it, now it's mine,
Breaking away was hard to achieve, but we've broken the boundary lines,
Hating the way we had to leave, hoping we'll stand the test of time.

Steeling myself for the coming crash, stolen moments are for thieves,
Bracing myself for the inevitable, I'll have to take a break to grieve,
Hating the wait for the end, but hoping against hope I won't have to leave.

"Stealing" is just a working title - any better suggestions for a title will be gratefully received. Brain's gone now - it's all this waiting up for the MONDAY songwriter's assignment/topic. Good job I'm a night owl, and 2:45 am is pretty early for a late night for me....if that makes sense!
