Hi Wilhelmina,

Good start :D I like the cloaking of meaning involved. I like this line "But I wonder if I may have bought
More love than I can handle!"

I kind of felt something had to set it straight b/c the second verse is down right creepy until the listener finds out it's not a woman the singer is talking about. :P

It reminds me a bit of an Oh Henry story where it appears a husband is going to run away with a mistress, but the truth in the twist isn't revealed until the end.
Girl http://www.online-literature.com/yeats/996/
Is this what you call writers rut?
:P I'm not sure, but it sure is annoying when it happens

This next comment is more personal preference:
I think the Grandparent music fits better with the Grandparent song.....
I read the words here first before listening and I was hearing more a do-whop sound like "Da Do Run Run" - The Crystals - 1963
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTqnam1zgiw
or
Grease Lightening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c48Ol9xkaqM

The Grandparent song has a "waltzy - 3/4 feel"....where as the lyrics here are more energized than laid back:

"took me by surprise -
Shot out a fist and punched me
Right between the eyes."

"has got a grip on me"

"What happened next is all a blur
Till we stumbled out the doors"

"Was it fever?"

"And was it madness? "

.....All nice descriptive words showing fast action or spontaneity BTW

Thanks for sharing.

James
