Sometimes I think Bob and I have some kind of psychic connection
I often find I will write something and it will fit an assignment in the
next few weeks.

What I had in mind when I wrote this was exactly what Bob said
"tell the story"

Vic, I love the tweaks I wasn't happy with the garden verse either.
Your suggestions make sense. I may not use all of them but they
helped me think of a few of my own.

My only problem is I have most of the music for this but now I'm
thinking will it work closer to Johnny Cash or U2. I don't think it will
work as Mott The Hoople.

"As a mother laid her babe amongst the beast "......beasts?

"As we gather 'round and light the Christmas tree".....sounds like you're setting fire to it, that was my first impression anyway....maybe something like "As we gather round the Christmas tree and dream...."

And somewhere His desiple
Denies as they were told
Claims no knowledge of this name they speak "........

I'm not at all sure this verse should be written in the present tense, it just doesn't seem to fit....

"Somewhere in a garden,
A man he stood betrayed,
Marked by a kiss upon his cheek,
And somewhere a disciple,
Denied the truths he told,
Claimed no knowledge of the name they speak...." might read a little better.....

But these are only little tweaks, as I like to say, fine tuning.....

On a side note, your song seems to refer to other songs .....

The "Alpha Omega" line made me think of Johnny Cash's "When The Man Comes Around".....

"Somewhere on a cross
A Soldier pierced His side
The Lamb of God's last blood was on the sword"......

made me think of U2 and BB King doing "When Love Comes To Town"......

and of course, as a HUGE Mott The Hoople fan, I loved the "Roll Away The Stone" line......
