Just had to say that...

Along with the others, I think you did an excellent job, not only with the theme but with the flow of narration and where it takes the listener / reader. Very cool.

My only suggestion is maybe coming up with something a little more specific than "chores" in this otherwise great stanza:
Why'd I have to leave it so late again?
Christmastime started back in September
My head's overloaded with carols and songs
I've got cards to write and chores to remember

"Chores" just seems, to me anyway, like a strange word in this context. I'll try to come up with something, but right now my brain is going "...and a turkey to dismember..." and that's a little too over the top, I think.

Looking forward to the music. Hope Santa comes through with some recording equipment!

Peace

You have a metronome? Cool. I kept getting excited while trying to record my song, speeding up and then screwing up. I don't want to know how many takes it took... by the way, doesn't take a sound studio to record a rough cut. WIndows usually comes with a sound recorder under "program-accessories-entertainment-sound recorder" - all you need is a cheap mic. Macs often come with something too. And there are several sites like www.soundclick.com where you can painlessly post. For me, it helps to hear what people have in mind cause I can't really play the chords till I've heard something, even if it is a bad recording (I'm sure even a dying cat would sound great in Sony's studio).

I like your theme - reaching back into that childhood nostalgia and remembering what we once loved... sometimes it is just reminding ourselves of that that can get us into the right mood. I liked your conclusion - hard not to smile when surrounded by the ones you love and good food.

The rhyme scheme seemed to work too, I just had one flag come up in my head about "food" and "pud" - is pud actually used (I'm american, so I miss some lingo). Otherwise, it feels as if you're trying to force a rhyme there, and I don't think it works... maybe I'd have to hear it but I think most audiences would miss it. Maybe find something else that rhymes with pudding instead to end the food line or vice versa.

Have a good holiday.

contagiousjerm
