Ha, another big part of my youth - with the possible exception of the Roadrunner/Wile E Coyote cartoons, this is the one I looked forward to the most. Still love 'em - my kids and grandkids grew up with T & J too, we all laughed together!

James raises a few good points - doesn't he always! - as to how you could develop this. I'd add to that by saying, maybe you could add a little more detail? Throw in some of the classic moments - a cat with a frying-pan-shaped face, a cat-shaped hole in the roof, Jerry being chased by Tom who's being chased in turn by Spike.....

Or maybe personalise it a little more? Turn the whole song into a metaphor about a love/hate cat-and-mouse relationship; maybe turn the cat into a "Cat on a hot tin roof" and the mouse a mousey personality....

Just a few ideas, anyway; I'll be interested to see what you do with this, and to see if you can develop it further. There's already paint on the canvas, the background's filled in; all it needs is a few fine brush strokes, some fine detail, and you're going to have a really good song here.

:D :D :D

Vic

Jay,

Good start. :D You have 3 episodes laid out...none seemingly dependent on the other and your clear hook.

Suggestion:
#1
Since it seems obvious that the answer to the question "Is it that time again for a game of cat and mouse?" is "Yes" how about phrase the hook as a statement....it's that time again for a game of cat and mouse.

#2
Personal preference, but there doesn't seem much depth or purpose to the narration...this could be fine for you and for most listeners, but I tend to prefer working the ideas a bit or listening to songs with some depth.....I like the idea of cat and mouse....

possible ideas to build on:

...who did you identify more with while watching....Tom or Jerry?

....you could question why are we so fascinated with the chase?....or the idea that the chase is really more important than the catch...it gives Tom a purpose for his life...like one idea in life, the end goal is not as important as the process or journey

....or the idea that Jerry really wants or needs to be chased....he really isn't at peace unless he is being bothered by Tom

....or the idea that even when they are friends there is always tension because a cat is a cat and a mouse is a mouse...no getting around what we are

.....or maybe Jerry as a mastermind in control He is always so clever to get away, I am sure he could have easily come up with a way to kill off Tom whenever he wanted....normally cat and mouse game the cat is in control, but this would be a twist...where the real controller is the mouse.....

Just some thoughts.

It will be interesting to here how the chords you choose will flavor the song and determine the genre.

James
