Every now and then I like to play non related bass melodies on bass. A few years back I did a latin version of Yngwie's far beyond the sun.
Are any of you bassists out there into this kind of things ?

I'm very much into playing lead melodies on bass if that's what you mean, and oddly enough, I play some of the licks from Far Beyond the Sun from time to time on my six string. I think that a lot of people view bass as a limiting instrument, but you can do pretty much whatever you want on it.

Yes, I did it, too. In fact I also played some classical cello stuff on bass guitar. There are several videos on YouTube (not me), it is common.
