I finally bought a Marshall because I got a good discount and I'm very happy with it. It has two channels and you can get some nice tones with the classic one by playing with the gain knob. The modern channel is very clear and also you can use a compressor. It is in the same price range than the Stagg and perhaps you could get a good deal directly in the UK.

Yeah, I'm loving this bass - the light weight and the short scale make it very playable. I am having one little problem, though - but that needs its own thread.
