Too funny guys. I live in the northern most part of New York in the US. We have one of the colder climates, although you wouldn't know it this year. We have a saying as well. We have 3 seasons ....... Snow, Mud and Dust. The snow part used to be 6 months worth encompasing fall and winter with a very wet spring with a lot of snow melting plus rain and then our anual summer dry spell with burn bans and everything shriveling up brown and dying. It has been eerily mild so far this winter. Don't get me wrong. No complaints here. It has been in the 40's which is like 5 or 6 degrees celsius. We should be a lot colder, not unusual for below zero temps F which would be below -18 C. Our record low for where I live is -32F or -36C. Summer is short but our record high is 100F or 38C. You might say we certainly do have seasons here.
Chris, I know you guys got some places with warm weather down there but don't you also have lots of dangerous creepy crawlies? I suppose if you grow up with it you don't think twice. I always pay extra careful attention when I visit my daughter in Florida. (Our state with the creepy crawlies)
Ooops ... sorry. How rude. For those in other countries, New York is in the north eastern US. I can see Canada from where I live.

I read in the paper this morning that this is the 15th warmest and 15th driest winter since they started keeping records in 1934. Too bad for the folks who can't sell snow shovels, salt and winter coats, but I'm lovin' it!
It's gonna be bad when winter hits, though. We've had our worst snows since I've been here in March.

I've only shoveled my driveway once all winter so far. :D

We sure do have some industrial strength poisonous nasties, both on land and in the water. But the frequency of them is probably exaggerated a little sometimes. We do like to crack on like we're all rugged outback types. :) But the average Aussie is more likely to be an office worker living in the suburbs than a 'bushie'.
Big fan of your area BTW. I lived for a while in the USA in the 60s. Worked at Exeter New Hampshire, also at a summer camp in Maine, etc. Even lost my virginity in Connecticut (so if anybody handed it in, please let me know and I'll come and collect it....).
I hitched all round the US (wouldn't dare now! ) I remember being picked up by a cop car in northern NY state. Oh gawd I thought... now I'm in for it...... Not only did he not book me he took me into town (Buffalo I guess), proudly showed me around, and dropped me near the Falls. :D :D Happy days...
Cheers,
Chris
