I have a five string, I tend to play Scruggs style, but mostly play simple stuff for folk records and such.
The key for me is to learn a lot a of rolls, which are basically fingerpicking patterns for the banjo. The chording aspect of it not too hard and can come after you have some rolls under your fingers.
