Hi all!
I am trying to figure out a run to play for this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BErG6s4h9g4
It is Wreck of the Ol' 97. The video shows the song in Bb, played in A with a capo on the first fret.
I am playing it in Ab using E-key chords and a capo on the 4th fret.
For the life of me, though, I cannot figure out a smooth run to play from the B chord back to the E. I am especially lost at the end of the verse ("Put 'er into Spencer on time", etc.) where there is a full run from E to B to E (A to E to A in the video). I can do it in the original manner (key of A), though that last run still causes me trouble with timing. But I cannot even figure out the notes to play to get a good-sounding B to E run.
I have googled it, but there is not a lot out there on that particular run. I have tried figuring it out on my own, but that has been a flop; I got the E to B with no trouble, but back to E from B is just frizzilling my brain. I get something that sounds like the right notes, but they aren't in the octaves I'd like.
What can I do? If worse comes to worst, I'll just tune down and play it in the regular key.
Thank you,
JonA
