If I quit blame the D Chord!

I'll tell you I am VERY close to putting my guitar away for good! I have been practicing that DAMN D chord for 10 weeks and I STILL can't play it clean consitantly. To make matters worse most of the songs I like all have the D chord so I can't even stop practicing it for a while and come back to it! Same here with the "D" chord. I wasn't consistently getting a good sound. Some songs, I don't notice it too much?
