I don't think picks have anything to do with it, some people use big picks, some people use small picks, you should probably be able to play well using either.

Steve O, The quality of your playing does not = sound quality, gear issues can bea huge cause. If I put Steve Vai's pickups ON The strings he will sound bad hehe.

Picks make a diff. iwent through the same thing. i eventually just went bough like 20 diff picks and found one that works for me.
