There is an intro section, followed by [refrain]. What does refrain mean ?

It's a term from poetry - a phrase or word that is repeated without variation at other times in the poem.
Almost all choruses are refrains (i.e., they're the exact same words each time it's sung) so when you see it in music, that's usually what it means.
