Ok, so after I learn to play my electric guitar...Wait, when do I know I've learned, when do I know I have accomplished something that has been so...dare I say confusing? I feel like I complain to much to you guys on here, :) (just kidding you don't mind, right? RIGHT!) after you learn, whats next, does it feel so good that you have your guitar everywhere you are and it never leaves your side? LOL I'm just confused here, I was wondering if some one could just give me a hint... :)

Thanks
RagDoll

Um, well, uh, I think I understand your question.
If I am right, the answer is, You never stop learning. You can learn alot in music but you can live to be 150 and never learn it all.
But, that said, once you have reached a point that you are an accomplished musician, share your music with others or even teach others what you have learned.

But my question was; does a boulder hit you on the head and suddenly your like 'dude wheres my car!' just kidding are you suddenly like I can here something on the radio, and then go play it without looking it up...or something..I don't really know what my question was either, I guess your answer is right...you never stop learning *intense in thought* 'man that space warrior has a way with words...I'm hungry' :)

Not really sure what the question is but in my mind you never stop learning and always look for the next learning experience. Stretch yourself whenever you can.

Plus you never know when you are good enough or atleast I don't. And yes, I consider myself somewhere between a beginner and intermediate and probably always will be (too much of a perfectionist to think otherwise).

I will be happy when I can learn a new song in less than hours and remember it  That will mean to me that I have learned the bulk of the tools to do that.

And I love my guitars and they are a part of me and they do go wherever I go, meaning when I travel. Well atleast one anyway.

You have to set your own goals and keep resetting them as you reach them.

In the beginning there are a lot of stages- (in no particular order)

- You can hear when you are out of tune.

- You can hear the technique that is being played (i.e. – slide, hammer on, pull off, vibrato, etc…..).

- You can hear and tap to the rhythm.

- You can associate a quick run to a particular scale.

My point is, you are never a “master”, NEVER! There is WAY too much to learn.

Keep working on what you are doing and don't worry about where you are at level wise. It will all catch up in the end if you stick with it. At the end of the day, be happy you are where you are, because it could be a lot worse, you could be asking yourself how to kill time because you have nothing to do!

What “level” you are at is a joke in it self. Everyone wants to play the tunes they love, with-in said tune, there are different techniques and you can't base your progress on your favorite tune. Yes, it is great to nail one down, but there is a lot more out there….. i.e. more technique.

Good luck and most importantly, HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike
