I've been lurking on the forums and site here trying out a few of the songs posted and thought it might be time to give something in return. This is my first tabbing effort as well as my first post. I thought this would be a good song for the easy song database. I play it using slides, power chords, palm muting, and a couple of easy fills. It's a cool and fun 70's metal song to boot. It's also easy to play and sing at the same time, since the vocals are mostly sung during a droning palm mute section and start on the same chord. Singing and playing at the same time is really hard for me and others as well so this is an easy tune to remember where the words go. I play it on the E and A strings though I think Judas Priest's guitarists play it on the A and D strings, but for a beginner like me I think it's easier to do on the lower strings. I figured out the rhythm parts but I suck at figuring out the solo's, and they're way beyond my ability right now anyway. Anybody who knows them feel free to add .I play riff #1 and #6 with the gain on my amp at about 1/2 and then use my distortion pedal set about 1/3 again for the other riffs on top of my amp's gain (unless I'm playing my acoustic of course!). Tuning is standard EADGBE. I can't believe how long it takes to tab a 3 and 1/2 minute song! I break up the song into 6 riffs to make it easier to learn. Hope you like it. Thanks to the others on here who have posted songs that I've learned.

In 4/4 Time, mostly.
I'll show the riffs first and then put it all together at the end.
First, riff #1, I play it with 3 note power chords but 2 note power chords will work too. The slides are picked between the power chords along with a light palm mute giving it a cool heavy sound. When I play this on the acoustic I slow down the tempo and omit the slides since they don't sound so good on it. The strumming pattern I use is under the tab.

On to riff #2. On the 1 count I hit an E5 power chord hard ( I'll call it an Em though to not mix it up with the E5 at the 12th fret) at the nut and then heavy palm mute the droning E5/B. All downstrokes to keep the sound droning. The vocals take place mostly during this riff.

Riff #3 starts with a a hard hit to Em again with slides from G5 to A5 and down from A5 to G5. All downstrokes, again picking through the slides, this keeps it heavy sounding.

Riff #4 played like riff #3, but the timing's just a little different, followed by the 2 bars of whole notes and then the fill at the end is added. I know the fill isn't exactly like it's played by JP but it works a little easier for me for the transition back into riff #1 and I like the sound of the double stops. All downstokes again.

Riff #5, the bridge. For some reason I almost always have trouble with bridges and turnarounds. This one's not too bad though and introduces a couple of power chords with extra bass notes the G5/D and the A5/D. Note the timing change in riff 5 (b), on the JP recording it's just at the drum fill before the guitar solo. I hope I got it right. I play it with the strokes indicated.

Riff 6, the exit strategy. Similar to the fill at the end of riff #4 but I think I have it a little closer to what's on the recording. At the last note deaden the strings after a count of one to give it a crisp ending!

What can this strange device be?
When I touch it, it gives forth a sound
It’s got wires that vibrate and give music
What can this thing be that I found?
