Right guys and girls, here's a real oldie (I beleive from the album Rhymes and Reasons, 1969?). Another one for newbees really, strummy one. Your grandma and granpa will sing along to this for sure ha ha...!!!

As for a strumming pattern, try D D U U D.
[Intro]

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go
I'm standing here outside your door

I hate to wake you__ up to say goodbye

But the dawn is breakin' it's early morn
The taxi's waitin' he's blowin' his horn
G C D Dsus4 D
Already I'm so lone____some I could die___

[Chorus]
G C G C
So kiss me and smile for me; tell me that you'll wait for me

There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around

G C
Every place I go, I'll think of you
Every song I sing, I'll sing for you
G C D Dsus4 D
When I come back I'll bring your wedding ring

[Chorus]

G C
Now the time has come to leave you
One more time, let me kiss you
G C D Dsus4 D
Then close your eyes, I'll be on my way

Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
G C D Dsus4 D
About the times I won't have to say:

[Chorus] (repeat I'm leaving on a jet plane)

G

Chords

G 320033

Great addition Matt. Brings back some really good memories. I can even sing this one even though I'm not old enough to be a grandpa yet. :D

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- "WOW--What a Ride!"

Yeah!!

This was the first song that I could actually play, or at least it sounded good when I changed chords.
