Here's a really easy great song from John Lennon (from the Milk & Honey album) specially dedicated by me to Vic & Rodders as they seem to be having similar days and tea & sympathy for each other from what I've read on the "Give Me Love" thread.
Heard it in the car on the way home from work tonight. The chord changes are simple as you only have to lift a finger off the B string from the A to get Asus2 and lift a finger off the B string again to get from D to D6 as illustrated below.
I'm still working on the strum pattern but it seems to be a fast almost stacato straight UP/DOWN/ UP/DOWN machinegun type strumming pattern for the intro and DOWN/DOWN/UP/UP/DOWN for the verses. Thats the only way I can describe it. Doesn't help much I know! But I'm sure somebody on GN can describe it better for you all. Anyway here goes:
Chords used:
A 001110
Asus2 001100
D x00232
D6 x00202
E 022100
C 032010
G 320003
Intro - play (A)/// (Asus2)/// (D)/// (D6)/// (D)/// (twice)
Verse 1:
(A)Everybody's (Asus2)talking and (D)no one says a (D6)word(D)
(A)Everybody's (Asus2)making love and (D)no one really (D6)cares(D)
There's (A)Nazis in the (E)bathroom (D)just below the (E)stairs
There's (A)always something (Asus2)happening and (D)nothing going (D6)on(D)
There's (A)always something (Asus2)cooking and (D)nothing in the (D6)pot(D)
They're (A)starving back in (E)China so (D)finish what you (E)got
Chorus:
(G)Nobody (D)told me there'd be days like (A)these
(G)Nobody (D)told me there'd be days like (A)these
(G)Nobody (D)told me there'd be days like (A)these (Asus2)/ / (A)
(C)Strange (G)days (D)indeed (D6)(D6)(D) - (C)most pec(G)uliar mama(A)
Verse 2:
Everybody's running and no one makes a move
Everyone's a winner and no one seems to lose
There's a little yellow idol to the north of Katmandu
Everybody's flying and no one leaves the ground
Everybody's crying no one makes a sound
There's a place for us in movies you just gotta stay around
Chorus:
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Strange days indeed - most peculiar mama
Verse 3:
Everybody's smoking and no one's getting high
Everybody's flying and never touch the sky
There's UFO's over New York and I ain't too surprised
Chorus:
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Strange days indeed - most peculiar mama
Enjoy it everyone, I am.
Cheers
Chris

Aghhhh
Not only am I a senior citizen
I'm now a bloody senior member
Are you people trying to tell me I'm old or what ?
over 700 posts ( I really do need to get out more )
Just tried this....minor suggestion, the D6 sounds better played like this...
E 2
B 3
G 4
D 0
A 0
E x
use a mini-barre across the top 3 strings for the D chord with your first finger, then fret the B string at the 3rd fret with your 2nd finger... then to get to the D6, just use your 3rd finger to fret the G string at the 4th fret...
Great Song, this is rapidly becoming the "Easy Beatles Database!!!"

Hey I heard this one on Radio 2 on Tuesday (was that when you heard it?) and thought I must look that up on the tab sites.
the song is very reminiscent of early lennon solo projects like "Instant Karma" and as soon as you hear it you know damn well its John Lennon.
I think you would, even if you didn't.
I will have a go soon but am working my way through "Across The Universe" at the mo'
Good job by the looks of it and no one asking for a strumming pattern
Well done Chris
Be excellent to each other & party on dudes!

Hmmmm..now we're really getting old, Radio 2 was the station your parents had on in the morning, listened to Terry Wogan....and wouldn't let you change to Radio 1 and listen to Tony Blackburn's breakfast show..the golden hour.....
We used to listen to TB on my tranny on the bus to school.....

Yes Rodders & Vic,
It was Tuesday about 5:20pm. Johnny Walker Drivetime Radio 2. Always listen to him as he tends to play the only descent stuff on Radio 2 in the daytime. Does good interviews too after 6:30pm usually with our contempory artists and some new artists. Remember his lunchtime show on Radio 1 back in the early 70's?
I agree Rodders this song does sound like John's early solo stuff. I thought it came out about the time of Wall and Bridges and I was very surprised when I found out it was from Milk & Honey. I only found that out by going onto Johnny Walker's homepage on the BBC website and clicked on music played.

I used to listen to JW at dinnertime in school....used to look forward to him running down the new charts every Tuesday....ah, "Time Is Tight" by Booker T and the MG's....
"Metal Guru" was #1 on my 15th birthday....you can imagine how thrilled I was about that!....and a year later, "Can the Can" - Suzi Quatro was #1 in the morning, come lunchtime it was knocked off by "See My Baby Jive" by Wizzard......
That old transistor radio used to go absolutely everywhere...used to annoy the hell out of my mates when we went fishing, but there was no way I was going to sit for hours looking at a float without music...
And one time....in the school Library, a rainy dinnertime.....used to have to turn the volume all the way up, remember those crappy mono earpieces? I had long hair, used to put the radio in my inside jacket pocket and hide the wire under my collar....somehow the earpiece came out, just as Donny Osmond was belting out "Someone help me, help me pleeeeeeeeeeeease...."
Another time during a German lesson, was listening to Walker's daily derby....the two contestants were deadlocked, so the tie-break questions were along the lines of "what year was such-and-such record a hit"....teacher, Miss Price, asked me to translate something into German and I replied "1965".....
Ahhhh happy days....

Wow Vic what a memory you have, :o
I do remember those fragile old transistor radios though.
Ah-- "Booker T and The MG's" now you're talking!! Just love "Green Onions". I saw a piece of vintage film of them playing that around the time they were backing Otis Redding. What an awesome bass player they had, magic to watch.
Cheers,
Chris

I used to love "Soul Limbo" - when you heard that on BBC1, you knew the cricket season had officially started and summer was here..."Good morning, and welcome to Lord's for the first day of the first Test...."

Cripes!! we've strayed a long way of the original musical subject on this thread.

OK back on topic....and back to the original tab....
Just dug out "Nobody told me"....sure there are a few minor chords in there somewhere....I'll have another look later when I can get my hands on a guitar....
I am currently in the process of re-discovering just why I hate re-decorating.....
OK, dustsheets back over the stereo....Marilyn's in one of those naggy moods, "are you just going to mess about on that bloody computer all day"....but she didn't say "mess" and she definitely didn't say "bloody" - looks like I'm going to have to quit slacking, get some loud rock'n'roll on and get painting.....
