Here's how I do it...
INTRO: D A G D (one time - strum pattern same as verse)
VERSE 1: * STRUM PATTERN:
D A G D D = VV AV
I SEE A BAD MOON A RISING A = VV (no high E/1)
D A G D G = VV
I SEE TROUBLE ON THE WAY D = pluck the A/5 string
then strum V VA VAVAVA
E doesn't = MC2, E = Fb
