For some reason you are not getting 0 latency with Sonar ASIO. If Sonar has an ASIO control panel tweak it there and see if that help. Also make sure it is the ASIO input/output option selected and not the non-ASIO (whatever it is called in Sonar)
With the headphones you are not currently going in and directly out. It is running through the software first so that is why you are getting latency there. Without hands on I can't tell you exactly what to set but it looks like in the control panel mixer tab you can select "direct hardware monitoring" for the line out and headphones. If you use the hardware direct monitoring the only problem is you won't hear any effects you added within your software. You will only hear what comes out of your guitar/amp.
Thanks, Nils.
I'll look that over when I get home tonight and see if I can get this conglomeration of recording gear working.

You probably won't be able to get 0ms latency though. 5-10ms is good if you can get that. Even going through your software effects you should be able to get pretty low latency, depending on how many you go through.

I agree. When I think of 0 latency I think more along the lines of "to the ear" not by a benchmark. I should have said near 0. I know with my Mobile PreUSB and Kristal I can get it to the point where I don't notice the delay when software monitoring.
Thanks, Nils.

How did you make out Bish?
OK, after two nights of frustration, trial and error and not much in the way of patience, there is a brand new firewire 410 recording device somewhere out my front door. It may have a few scratches and bruises from the flight out my door and into inner space somewhere but if anyone finds it, it's yours. (two nights ago)
(Last night)
Ok, after regrouping and finding the 410 two house away ( I gotta get into baseball or football...I got one heck of an arm ) I reconnected it and was able to get the latency to drop to near nothing. Under the Audio setup there is a latency adjustment slider and after fumbling around with it for a dozen attempts, it seems to have solved the problem for the most part.
Now I'm dealing with dropouts. So I am going to take home some more RAM and try using the A/C adapter with the 410 and see if I can get rid of the dropout. That is worse than the delay. At least with the delay I was able to get through a song but can't get through a verse now. This has been quite the education and I'm not even done yet. :D
