I need a simple volume control for my fx loop.
Similar controllers are on ebay for $20 to $50, but they're basically just two jacks and a 100K pot in a box. I have a bunch of salvaged parts sitting around, so thought I'd wad up some chewing gum and stick the pieces together.
Question is: audio or linear taper pot? And does it even matter much?
"Everybody got to elevate from the norm."
"Since our hearing has a logarithmic response to sound pressure, it is important that the volume control should provide a smooth variation from soft to loud, such that a given change in position of the pot causes the same sensation of volume change at all levels."
That's taken from here, the law of pots (taper), y'awwlll better obey that law  http://sound.westhost.com/pots.htm
So, it ought to be audio for your cool volume control creation. Linear is supposedly a complete lack of taper, but it can not be argued, so that's why we get along. 8)

Thanks Blue Jay; that's what I expected but wanted to make sure. 8)
