Hi everybody!
I'm new to the forum here :D .
I just bought an Ibanez FZ7 fuzz pedal... Now I've heard that this pedal has mixed reviews, as in everybody either loves it or hates it. I just started learning to play the guitar about two and a half months ago, so my technique is surely amateur. However, when I plug this sucker in, I get a really muddy, crappy distortion kind of sound. On a whim, I plugged an old pair of computer speakers into the headphone jack on my 10 watt combo amp, and ALAS! I had fuzz.
I'm not exactly expecting any miracles from such a weak, cheap amp, but I also have a Boss DS-1 which sounds great! So I guess my question is, do I need some kind of higher-end amp to make proper use of my new fuzz box? Is this a problem affecting all small/combo amps? Or do I just have a faulty amp?
Thanks for any suggestions!
Both the pedal and amp are probably fine, but don't work well together. It's always best to make sure you're as close to your normal amp and guitar setup as possible when trying out a new pedal.
Playing guitar and never playing for others is like studying medicine and never working in a clinic.
