What can I do to practice for guitar rhythm accompaniment to Irish fiddle music?  Is there a basic Irish scale that would ground me in accompaniment of Irish reels and jigs? It's often a repetitive chord/key pattern of D- G- A or Em-D or G-C-D, etc. so I think that there must be a basic Irish scale that would be like a 'axel' around which these slightly varied melodies rotate.

PEACE!!

No, there is no "Irish scale".  Most Irish music is simply in a major key (usually D or  G major).

What distinguishes Irish folk music is the common use of a "drone note" or "pedal note" (often D).
