Just rented "Harmony: 5th edition" from my local library. I find it explaines a lot very simply and in a very thorough manner. I love it, mabye later Ill try another one like noteboat's after this his seems pretty good too. Just seeing what you guys think.
Once you're done with Harmony, you'll be beyond my book, I think. Mine's more of an introductory text - the sort of thing to get people ready for Piston :)

yeah im up to Tonality and Modality..
the Voice Leading chapter confused me a lot and its gonna take me ages to memorise that "common" practice and the excersises..
hey Tom..
you reckon you can score out the first 4 things.. Voice Leading chapter, the excersises.. first one.. it has like 14 parts to it..
can you do the first 3/4 so i can see how it means for it to be done??
Edit:
i mean the first 3/4 parts of the first excersise, not the first 4 excersises.. that'll take forever lol
Alex, I have the 4th edition... I've had it for a long time. So... it may not match what you've got. And no offence, but I'm not about to buy the new edition to help you out :)

o lol, no problem noteboat. I'll probably end up buying your book anyway. most likely for a review so that I can get a better grasp of it on guitar. I never expected anyone to go out an buy anything anyway any of the question I ask on the forum about the book are for anyone who may just so happen to own it.
I've heard of this book several times, but couldn't find the book on Amazon. I just found Elementary Harmony and Tonal Harmony, but not Harmony 5th Ed. Where can I check it out? I'm looking for a book with exersizes to test myself on concepts...
