i mean as far as can you pair a penatonic and mode together in the same solo. I mean i have read articles about hendrix where they say okay he used this minor penatonic and this mode all in the same song. Do you use them as seperate entities or do they interconnect. And i mean playing the modes over penatonics as far as adding extra notes to penatonic which would make it a mode. Ive read articles saying penatonics are partly simplified modes. I dont mean playing two seperate solos at once over eachother.
Yes, they interconnect. I think you're on the right track here.

pentatonic's and modes are basically scales, so i dont think you use them "with one another"
i think its a case of, pentatonic scales, OR modes.
Alex,
But wouldn't you say that the pentatonic is contained in the major scale? So you could build a solo using the pentatonic and still move into the major scale, right? Or into its relative minor, for example?
Modes are ways of defining different centers for the scales, right? So you could shift from say a basically pentatonic pattern to a fuller scale pattern. Just as you might use passing notes in a pentatonic minor.
I don't know if that's right or makes sense, but I think that's the kind of thing the post is asking.
And, again, I may just be plain confused myself.
