Well, I've got my blues scale down now. I can play a lot of licks and bluesy solos off of it. But when it comes down to rock solos, I seems that the minor petonic scale isn't used. I've been listening to a lot of Zeppelin recently, and I want to make my own zeppelinish sounding stuff. What scales do they use? What kind of theory do i need to learn?
Who needs a signature?
I mean really...
It's almost always lyrics...
or a cliche...
or garbage about me...
Lets just save YOU from the pain, ok?
Sorry, but it's still pentatonic minor. :D Theory is also very limitedly needed as Led Zep is basically a souped-up bluesband. Check out Stairway to Heaven for example, if you feel comfortable playing the blues you might want to get a backing for this one and just play over it. Most of Page's licks are directly taken from the blues. If that prooves a bit tough, try 'you shook me all night long', which basically is a standard blues. Don't try to play at Page's speed, just play your own melodies as they come. Led Zep generally uses the same 'kind' of progression but it is still a bit more varied then with the blues, so just take your time with each song to really get to know what the band is doing. Hope this helps some, good luck!
I have the same problem. Everything I play sounds like the blues.

Problem? I'd be proud of that!
