Wow. It's been so long since I've been on this site. So long since I've written a song.
However, now that I have graduated, traveled and quit a horrid job - I have too much time on my hands. >.<
I looked at my last posts, and, well I have grown up a bit since those; however, in my time away, I've also become somewhat rusty. Thus, I thought I'd come back and give this a shot. This new poem has a meaning to it that is important to me (and I'm Quite sure you'll all be able to figure it out... The story behind it is not as uncommon as it should be.)
I'm happy to see some of the ol' regulars are still here, and hope to see you more as my days drag on :P.
Not Your Chore (Yeah, my title isn't that great)
Couldn't bleed, but I know I'm breathing.
Wouldn't cry, though I know I'm down.
Shouldn't speak with the voice of reason,
Unless I know it'll be loud.
My breath is not for wasting
I need the strength enough to fight.
You'll remember me for the warrior,
That I have yet to be tonight.
And I will crawl, but I won't break.
We can't stay another minute in this god forsaken place.
You can watch, me on my knees
-But don't mistake this for the pleading that's been driven out of me.
These flames are growing,
And they're burning a little too hot.
Why weren't you ever man enough to stop?
Always come back to the job that wasn't quite done,
Fighting a battle I had never won.
I'm not your chore no more, I'm not your chore no more.
Mm, Free to go.
This is right, I've been so wrong.
(Baby) You have been my reason for too long.
Searching for the world I couldn't create,
Going to catch up to the life, I couldn't quite make.
I'm better than this, I'm better than this.
These flames are growing,
And they're burning a little too hot.
Why weren't you ever man enough to stop?
Always come back to the job that wasn't quite done,
Fighting a battle I had never won.
I'm not your chore no more, I'm not your chore no more.
Mm, Free to go.
Suddenly I'm seeing with all my senses
And suddenly I'll try to dissolve those years.
This is me, drying my tears - because....
These flames are growing,
And they're burning a little too hot.
Why weren't you ever man enough to stop?
Always come back to the job that wasn't quite done,
Fighting a battle I had never won.
I'm leaving now. I'm winning now,
As the warrior I am.
I'm not your chore no more, no not your chore.
Yeah, free to go.

Please be as harsh as you can be. I want to start growing into the writer I know I can be. :)
Thanks for your time! Stay wonderful.
I know it wasn't reason,
That made me do what wasn't right
but sometimes my heart falls prone
to the nature of your spite.
Hmm... I just realized how country I've become...
I know it wasn't reason,
That made me do what wasn't right
but sometimes my heart falls prone
to the nature of your spite.
I have a hard time putting this to a rhythm. For example:
The second line is so incredibly long that I just don't know how it could work. Can you record yourself singing (or just talking if singing is intimidating!) the lyrics so I can hear what you have in mind? I can't promise anything but if I get what you want I might see if I can provide some music for it.
Thanks for the note. lol in all honesty, I was waiting for that comment to come; however, not for that particular part of the song. I recently moved and unfortunately all of my stuff isn't accessible for a while. This means I didn't get to record the melody of this anywhere. I do remember how I sang the beginning and middle to make it work, and hopefully I will be able to get my stuff out and make a recording for you to hear that too. However, I forgot how I came u with the last bit...
lol I hope all that blabbing was understandable... Thank you for your comment, I'll try my best to get myself organized and keep you posted. :)
I know it wasn't reason,
That made me do what wasn't right

Ignar, I was listening to the lyrics of "Spanish Eyes"
and recalled what you had said about the above song.
Here's the lyrics for Spanish Eyes
kind of similar to the above situation
It might give you an idea . . . or not
(just a thought)
Blue
Spanish eyes
teardrops are falling from your Spanish Eyes
Please
please don't cry,
this is just adios and not good-Bye
Soon
I'll return,
bringing you all the love your heart can hold
Please
say "si si"
Say you and your Spanish eyes will wait for me
Soon
I'll return,
bringing you all the love your heart can hold
Please
say "si si"
Say you and your Spanish eyes will wait for me
Say you and your Spanish eyes will wait for me

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
