Does anybody know what strings came on the Epiphone Les Paul? Epiphone? I want to restring mine. I already bought a couple of packets (GHS 010 and D'Addario EXL120) so it is only to compare and for statistical purposes. ;)
Thanks!
as a rule, I believe guitar manufacturers put 9's on guitars. the theory is that 9's are easier on a beginners fingers.
so when they grab a guitar off the hook and try it it feels good for them...a way to sell.
if heavy gauges, which we prefer, were on there, a beginner could not handle it.
so assume 9's.
I like that you will put on 10's. they sound better. IMO.
ernie ball slinkeys for me .10 8)

Most come with 9's. I have gotten guitars with 10's before. My Oscar Schmidt Delta King came with heavy strings. It had a wound G! The ones on your Epi are probably 9's and you will find that 10's are very popular. I myself use 9's cause thats what all my heroes used when I was learning (and some later on too) and I like the feel so I stuck with them.
P.S. I use D'Addario XL120's and Ernie Ball Super Slinky's. I like GHS Boomers and have used Fender and Gibson strings. If I can get em cheap and they sound good, I'll buy em. I'm not really brand loyal, you see, D'Addario usually has 3 packs in Musicians Friend for $10.

Thanks guys! :D
I'm playing from last summer so I'm a beginner. Could I put the 10's now or it is better than I wait some months to strengthen my fingers?
I'll look for Ernie Ball here. I don't remeber so well but I think I paid 5 euros for the D'Addario's!
The GHS's was a gift of my girlfriend. By the way, she told me that the salesman asked her if I played with lights. She said I played at home and then he gave the GHS's. Are there any relation between the lights and the strings? It was very strange for us.
I use Ernie Ball .08 super slinkys on my Sheraton. .09's on the strat.

The best sounding strings I have used on my Epi LP thus far have been the Gibson Brite Wires in 10's. I've tried cheapies, D'Addario, GHS, and the Gibson Humbucker strings. I keep coming back to the Brite Wires. The SG I just bought came with them already installed and I'll be sticking with them on it as well.
On my Fender I use D'Addario XL 10's.

Depends on which kind of "light" you mean...
When you say "any relation between the lights and the strings", if you mean this kind of light
, then no, there is no relation...
What the salesman meant is "does he use light gauge strings".

Good joke Kent! But remember I'm Spanish so the salesman really used the word "luz" = light. I don't know if he made the same joke (although we use the words "fino" or even "ligero" for this meaning) or really there is a relation, for example, when plays live.
Anyway, thanks!
