Hey, my cousin's first birthday is coming up and his parents are throwing party. My aunt suggested that It would be a good idea if I played Happy Birthday for him. I've already looked for tabs, which I found, but they were all single note songs. I'm wondering if anyone could perhaps make a happy birthday tab for Power Tab or Guitar Pro 4 that kinda turns the song into a solo. It would be good if it had some solo fills in it between sections of the song (kinda what hendrix did with the star spangled banner, but nothing that extreme) to make it fun for me to play and fun for everyone else. The party is on the 23rd. If anyone wants to do this for me, please reply here. I would be really appreciate it. Thanks
Why dont you just play the Beatles' "Birthday?"
Those are helpful tips. But I am mainly asking/looking for a birthday song with short solo fills in different parts of the song. I reealize this is an odd thing to ask for, but I am hopeful for results
There comes a time when you just need to improvise. Try just adding your own solo's to the song, that would be impressive to everyone. let your imagination go, adapt a couple scales and you'll be in.

That would have been my first choice, but I don't know much about music theory/ solo scales. Do you think I would be able to learn it from the lessons here and make my own solo in 17 more days?
take a section of say..
from 12th fret on G,B,E strings to the 17th on all those strings, learn all notes in the key (im guessing its C/Am) so, no accidentals, and just mess around, when you get something, write it down and use it.
** other tips
thing of the tune
dun dun - duuun dun - duun dun x2 etc
why not say, for every "dun" or "duun" play it twice instead of once.
i think you are also looking for decoration.. you can use.
1) trills (im sure you know what these are
2) turns (play a note, note above it, back to note, note below, back to note) usually at a very fast speed, you would have heard them millions of times.
3) passing notes, you can use slides to connect notes, or you can chromatically climb from one note to another (just make sure you accent before and when you get to where you want to be)

and dont get too wound up about it, he's not going to care if it doesnt sound perfect, its the fact you stood up and played for him. The notes dont count, im only telling you this musician to musician, to help you, for the purpose your talking about, just relax, it'll be good.
